The Celestial Rail-Road, Nathaniel Hawthorne, James White, 1855

In 1855, James White reprinted Hawthorne’s “Celestial Railroad” and added a few interesting changes of his own. Positioned top of “Pilgrim’s Progress” and written by arguably the greatest author of the century, this little story began life as a satirical comedy, but was soon conscripted by many Protestant authors who took it as more of a literal description of the Apostate Church.

You can’t miss out on this book! Once you read it, you’ll know exactly why he choose this story.

Fully annotated with all of James White’s deviations from the original.
